Excel Lesson 1 Vocab

Vocabulary for MSIA Excel

TermDefinition
Active Cell The currently selected cell.
Backstage View A view that provides extra tools.
Cell A holder for data; a box.
Column Cells that go from up to down.
Command Group Commands that have related functions that are grouped together.
Command Tabs Tabs that contain Command Groups.
FILE Tab Launches the Backstage View.
Dialog Box Launcher A button that launches more advanced tools related
Name Box The area to name a selected cell. Can also be used to search for a cell.
Quick Access Toolbar A toolbar holding commands that execute instantly, usually holds undo and redo.
Ribbon The bar that is displayed on the top of the window. Holds all the command tabs.
Row Cells that go from left to right.
ScreenTips Small onscreen boxes that display descriptive text when you rest the pointer on a command
Workbook Another word for spreadsheet file, contains worksheets.
Worksheet Contains spreadsheets.
