Be able to discuss the weaknesses and vulnerabilities of the various applications that run on a network. Web, email, and other services present unique security challenges that must be considered. Turn off services that aren’t needed. Make sure that applications are kept up to date with security and bug fixes.
Understand secure programming. Input validation, error handling, programming models, and software testing are all important on the Security+ exam. You should be familiar with all of these.
Be familiar with new technologies. The Security+ exam will ask basic questions regarding SCADA, IoT, medical devices, and other technologies. Make sure that you are familiar with the security issues associated with these technologies.
