Be able to describe the standards NIST and ISO standards mainly. Cannot describe in detail all of the NIST and ISO standards. In this chapter, we focused on standards that are most commonly used in cybersecurity and that you are most likely to see on the test.
Be able to explain the purpose of a honeypot/honeynet. A honeypot is a system that is used to gather information or designed to be broken. Honeypot systems are used to gather evidence in an investigation and to study attack strategies.
Be able to explain operating system hardening. OS hardening is making the OS as secure as you can before adding in antivirus, firewalls, and so forth. It includes patching the system, shutting down unneeded services, and removing unneeded software.
Be able to explain and apply network design and configuration Make certain that you understand network segmentation, zones, and defense in depth. You should also understand the technologies (such as VPNs) and network devices (firewalls, IDSs/IPSs, and so forth) that have been discussed in this chapter.
