Entering and Editing Data in Excel for Microsoft Office 2016

Planning Your Worksheet which data belongs in rows and which will be better in columns
Why should you decide beforehand which data belongs in rows and which will be better in columns. To avoid needing to make changes later.
What are labels used for? They identify the purpose of the worksheet, columns, and rows
Are labels used in calculations? No
What ARE labels? text used for descriptions
Is a value text or numeric? numeric
Why is it important to use labels? labeling rows and columns will help others make sense of your data you might forget which values were which over time
To enter information into a cell..... Click a cell to make it the active cell, and then type your label or data.
When typing, what appears in the Formula bar? the contents
What happens when you are typing, the contents in the Formula bar? The Cancel and Enter buttons are active.
To change the cell contents to the typed data............ click Enter
To leave the cell as it was when you're typing what do you do? click Cancel
The cell displays #####, what happened? A numeric value that’s too large for a cell was typed.
Why/How will data extend in to the next cell? information that was typed is longer than the cell width
How can the data display entirely? by changing the column width for the cell
By dragging a column boundary at the top of the sheet, what is being done? the column width is being changed
Boundary is defined as........ the line between columns or rows
The pointer changes to a double-headed arrow, what has happened to cause this? pointing to a column boundary
