Library "Tech Packs"

Initiative put forth by libraries in CNY to offer broadband access

QuestionAnswer
What does a "tech pack" consist of ? It includes a Chromebook laptop and a mobile hotspot device.
What is a mobile hot spot? It is a device that allows you to connect to the internet wherever you are.
Who can use the "tech packs"? Anyone who is over the age of 18 and owns a library card.
Has this program received any funding? Onondaga County has invested $100,000 to increase the number of packs across the public library system.
How long can you check out the packs? They can be checked out for three weeks, with the option of one renewal.
What type of loans are there? 1. Regular loans 2. 'Lucky Day' loans
What is a 'lucky day' loan? Coming to the library and seeing a 'tech pack' on the shelf and being about to check it out right on the spot.
Goal of the 'tech pack' program? Fight against poverty, provide easier access to broadband and provide another opportunity for education
