Ion A positively charged or negatively charged atom
Static charge An imbalance of electric charge on an object
Electric force the force that all charged objects exert on each other. Electric force can be attractive or repulsive. Like charges attract and unlike attract
Electric field electric charges exert a force on each other through a distance called the electric field
Insulator a material in which electrons cannot move easily from place to place
Conductor materials that contain electrons that move around more easily
Electric discharge the rapid movement of excess charge from one place to another
