Special Keys

backspace deletes the character to the left of the insertion point
caps lock capitalizes all letters when pressed
Control (Ctrl) control keys completes commands with other keys (used for keyboard shortcuts)
delete removes the character to the right of the insertion point
Esc escape key closes a software menu or dialog box
home row keys asdf jkl;
Alt alternate key completes commands with other keys
Function Keys special keys located at the top of the keyboard (F1, F2, F3, etc) used to complete software commands
WPM Words Per Minute (speed that marks how fast you type)
posture the correct seating position when developing typing skills (back straight)
Shift key makes capital letters and certain symbols when used with those keys
space bar inserts space between words and sentences
Tab key moves insertion point to a present position (indents)
arrow keys moves the insertion point in the direction indicated by the arrow on each key
insertion point the point where the next characters typed from the keyboard will appear on the display screen; usually represented by a blinking vertical line
character any letter, number, or symbol on the keyboard
