Special Keys
Question | Answer |

backspace | deletes the character to the left of the insertion point |
caps lock | capitalizes all letters when pressed |
Control (Ctrl) | control keys completes commands with other keys (used for keyboard shortcuts) |
delete | removes the character to the right of the insertion point |
Esc | escape key closes a software menu or dialog box |
home row keys | asdf jkl; |
Alt | alternate key completes commands with other keys |
Function Keys | special keys located at the top of the keyboard (F1, F2, F3, etc) used to complete software commands |
WPM | Words Per Minute (speed that marks how fast you type) |
posture | the correct seating position when developing typing skills (back straight) |
Shift key | makes capital letters and certain symbols when used with those keys |
space bar | inserts space between words and sentences |
Tab key | moves insertion point to a present position (indents) |
arrow keys | moves the insertion point in the direction indicated by the arrow on each key |
insertion point | the point where the next characters typed from the keyboard will appear on the display screen; usually represented by a blinking vertical line |
character | any letter, number, or symbol on the keyboard |
