0-3 months oral motor skills- sucking and swallowing patterns. at 1 month-liquid only 3 months- liquid/pureed
4 months vertical up and down movements AKA munching
5 months takes baby food from spoon
6 months strong up and down tongue movements, eat soft food that disolves
7-8 months mastication with diagonal jaw movements
9 months lateral tongue movements, finger feeding
12 months firm jaw allows for rotary chewing, spoon use- will invert spoon when bringing to mouth
15 months able to scoop food and bring to mouth
24 months shows interest in using fork and can use a straw
30 months proficient in fork use
