Vocabulary for MSIA Word & Powerpoint

TermDefinition
Caption Few descriptive words, and are typically used for figures, tables, and equations.
Crop Trim the horizontal or vertical edges to remove any unwanted areas.
Drawing Canvas Serves as a guide for illustrations.
Embedded Object Becomes part of the document and is no longer connected to the original image.
Floating Object An object with nothing holding it up.
Inline object Moves along with the text that surrounds it.
Linked object A connection between the document and the external picture file.
Scale Increases or decreases the original picture’s height and width by a percentage.
Screenslippings Enables you to draw a box and capture an image of its contents.
Screenshot A photo of the whole screen.
Shapes Figures such as lines, rectangles, block arrows, equation shapes, flowcharts, stars, banners, and callouts.
Smart Art Graphics Graphical illustrations available from a list of various categories.
WordArt Feature that creates decorative effects with text.
