| Term | Definition |

| Caption | A few descriptive words, and are typically used for figures, tables, and equations |
| Crop | Trim the horizontal or vertical edges to remove unwanted areas |
| Drawing canvas | Serve as a guide when inserting shapes etc. |
| Embedded object | An object becomes part of the document and is no longer connected to the original image |
| Floating object | Word positions the image precisely on the page and allows the text to wrap around it in one of several available formats. |
| Inline object | An image format that moves along with text that surrounds it |
| Linked object | Creates a connection between the document and the external picture file, but doesn’t incorporate the image into the word file |
| Scale | Increases or decreases the original picture’s height and width by a percentage |
| Screen Clippings | Enables you to draw a box and capture an image of its contents |
| Screenshot | A way to capture a picture of what the current screen looks like. |
