TermDefinition
Software piracy The illegal copying, distribution or use of software
Intellectual property Intangible property that is the result of creativity such as patents, copyrights.
Plagiarism The practice of taking someone else’s work or idea and making it as one’s own
Shareware Software that is available free of charge and often distributed informally for evaluation
Freeware Software that is available free of charge
Public domain software Software that has been placed in the public domain: there is absolutely no ownership such as copyright, trademark or patent.
Copyright law A form of protection that protects “original works of authorship”.
Reverse Engineering Taking apart an object to see how it works in order to duplicate or enhance the object.
Decompilation A form of reverse engineering that does the opposite of what a compiler does.
Network use a digital telecommunications network which allows nodes to share resources.
