Term | Definition |

Ascending | Order sorts text from beginning to end, such as from A to Z, 1 to 10 or January to December |
cells | The rectangles that are formed when rows and columns intersect |
cell range | Identified by two or more cells within the table |
descending | Order sorts text from the end to the beginning, such as Z to A, 10 to 1 or December to January |
Formulas | Calculate a total, compute an average, determine the highest/ lowest, and count values |
Header row | The first row of the table that contains information that helps identify the contents of a column |
Merge cells | To combine two or more cell into one. Its useful for headings that extend over several columns |
Quick tables | Built in preformatted tables, such as calender's and tabular lists, which you can insert and use in your documents |
Sort | Data means to arrange it alphabetically, numerically, or chronologically. Sorting displays data in order so that users can locate it more quickly. |
Split cells | To divide one cell into two or more cells. Might need to split cells when you need to place more than one type of data in one cell |
Tables | An arrangement of data made up of horizontal rows and vertical columns |
