Lesson 6 Vocabulary for MS Word
| Term | Definition |

| Ascending | Order that sorts text from beginning to end, such as A to Z, 1 to 10, or January to December. |
| Cells | Rectangles that are formed when rows and columns intersect. |
| Cell Range | Two or more cells within a table. (i.e. A1:A4) |
| Descending | Order that sorts text from end to beginning, such as Z to A, 10 to 1, or December to January. |
| Formulas | Simple function used in both Microsoft Excel and Word. All formulas begin with equal signs. Some uses of formulas can be to, calculate totals, compute an average, or determine the highest/lowest number in a range. |
| Header Row | The first row of the table that contains information that helps identify the contents of a particular column. |
| Merge Cells | Combine two or more cells into one. |
| Quick Tables | Built-in preformatted tables, such as calendars and tabular lists, which you can insert and use in your documents. |
| Sort | Arrange data alphabetically, numerically, or chronologically. |
| Split Cells | Divide a cell into two or more cells. |
| Table | An arrangement of data made up of horizontal rows and vertical columns. |
