Word Lesson 3 Vocabulary

TermDefinition
Character Any single letter, number, symbol or punctuation mark
Character spacing The spacing in and around each character of text
Character styles Applied to individual characters or words that you select
Font A typeface that applies a style to characters
Live preview A view of what it would look like in that font
Paragraph styles Format that is applied instantly in the paragraph where the insertion point is located, whether that text is selected
Point size The height of the characters, with one point equaling the approximately 1/72 of an inch
Text Effects Add a distinctive appearance to selective text, such as outline, shadow, glow, and reflection
WordArt A feature that creates decorative effects with text. For example, you can apply effects to the text by adding shadow, reflection, glow, soft edges, bevel, or 3-D rotation
