TermDefinition
Backstage view A page that has Save As appearing when you click the file tab.
Block Style A format that is used with Mixed punctuation.
Command The name of orders used to complete tasks
Dialog box A screen that displays additional options or information you can use to make a command
Dialog box launcher A small arrow in the bottom right corner of the group
Groups A tab that has command icons
I-beam When you put your cursor near the insertion point it changes to an I.
Insertion point A blinking point in the top left corner of the document where you begin creating text.
Menu A page with a list of options.
Mixed punctuation Punctuation that requires a colon after the salutation and a comma after the closing.
Nonprinting characters Symbols for certain formatting commands like paragraphs, indents and tabs, and spaces between words
Open punctuation Requires no punctuation after the salutation or the closing.
Preview Viewing a document
Print A command that copies the document on paper
Quick Access Toolbar A menu above the Ribbon that has commands users use most often
Repeat A command that does what you have just done
Ribbon A tab that contains multiple commands on separate tabs
Save A tab that makes a document of what you are typing so you can access it again
Save As A tab that you save a document but name the document before saving it
Settings A tab that has different items for the entire document
Tabs Different separate boxes used for commands
Template A master document with predefined page layout, fonts, margins, and styles that is used to create new documents with the same basic formatting.
Undo Lets your cancel your last command
White space The space between pages of the document.
Word Wrap Automatically wraps text to the next line as it reaches the right margin.
