Graphic Design Vocab

New vocabulary words.

TermDefinition
Graphic Illustrations and photographs used to convey meaning and add appeal.
Bleed A print effect 5 in which a color or an object appears to run off the edge of the page.
Caption Brief description text usually placed near an image.
Dropped cap Enlarged character at the beginning of a paragraph. Drops below the line of the text. Grabs the reader attention.
Pull quote Quotation taken directly from the body of the article. Used to draw attention. Often made larger. Can be placed: Between columns, Alone in a column, Right justified, Beneath the headline.
Sidebar Smaller, self- contained story alongside a larger story.
End mark

Running header/footer
infographics Graphical representation of data or information intended to present complex information quickly and clearly.
