| Preposition | A word or group of words that shows direction, location, or time, or introduces an object |
| Noun | A word that identifies a person, place, thing or idea |
| Verb | A word that describes an action, state of being, or event |
| Adverb | A word that modifies or describes the quality of a verb, adjective or another adverb |
| Adjective | A word that modifies nor describes the quality of a noun |
| Clause | A group of words that includes at least a subject and a verb |
| Phrase | A group of words that acts as a single part of speech |
| Independent Clause | A clause that can stand alone |
| Dependent Clause | Clause that can not stand alone |
| Noun Clause | A depeclause that acts like a noun |
| Adjective Clause | A dependent clause that acts like an adjective |
| Adverb Clause | A dependent clause that acts like an adverb |
| Pronoun | A word that takes the place of a noun |
| Subject | Who or what the sentence is about |
| Subjective Pronoun | Pronouns that take place of subject in the sentence |
| Object | The thing that something happens to |
| Object pronoun | A pronoun that takes the place of an object |
| Possessive Pronoun | Shows that something belongs to someone |
