Preposition | A word or group of words that shows direction, location, or time, or introduces an object |
Noun | A word that identifies a person, place, thing or idea |
Verb | A word that describes an action, state of being, or event |
Adverb | A word that modifies or describes the quality of a verb, adjective or another adverb |
Adjective | A word that modifies nor describes the quality of a noun |
Clause | A group of words that includes at least a subject and a verb |
Phrase | A group of words that acts as a single part of speech |
Independent Clause | A clause that can stand alone |
Dependent Clause | Clause that can not stand alone |
Noun Clause | A depeclause that acts like a noun |
Adjective Clause | A dependent clause that acts like an adjective |
Adverb Clause | A dependent clause that acts like an adverb |
Pronoun | A word that takes the place of a noun |
Subject | Who or what the sentence is about |
Subjective Pronoun | Pronouns that take place of subject in the sentence |
Object | The thing that something happens to |
Object pronoun | A pronoun that takes the place of an object |
Possessive Pronoun | Shows that something belongs to someone |
