| Character | is any single letter, number, symbol, or punctuation mark. |
| Character spacing | Refers to the spacing in and around each character of text. Character spacing options in Word include the following: Scale, Spacing, and Position. |
| Character styles | Are applied to individual characters or words that you select. |
| Font | Is a type face that applies a style to characters. |
| Live preview | An LCD screen on a digital camera that is viewed too frame and shoot pictures, not just display them after they’ve been taken. |
| Paragraph styles | Format is applied instantly to all text in the paragraph where the insertion point is located, whether or not that text is selected. |
| Point size | Refers to the height of characters with one point equaling approximately 1/72 of an inch. |
| Text Effects | Add a distinctive appearance to selected text, such as outline, shadown, glow, and reflection. |
| WordArt | A feature that creates decorative effects with text. For example, you can apply effects to the text by adding shadow, reflection, glow, bevel, or 3-D rotation. |
