| Judge | leads the courtroom, person of honor |
| Jury | randomly selected people to serve in the courtroom |
| Court Reporter | person who records all information and conversation during a case |
| Defendant | person opposing the state or the complaintant |
| Defense attorney | legal representative hired or appointed to defend the accused |
| Plaintiff | person making an accusation against another |
| Prosecutor | person appointed by the government to bring charges against the accused |
| Witness | person who witnessed the situation or crime in the case |
| Character Witness | person who can testify about the character of the defendant |
| Procedural Law | law regarding how things are handled in the legal system |
| Judicial Branch | the legal court system in the United States |
| Bailiff | deputy/officer appointed to swear in witnesses and handle situations inside the courtroom |
| Complaint | official document completed regarding the case at hand |
| Affadavit | official document stating that something is true and honest |
