TermDefinition
Backstage view Screen that appears when you click the file tab
Block Style Format that aligns text along the left margin
Command An instruction based on an action that you can perform in Word by clicking a button or entering information into a command box
Dialog box Displays additional options or information you can use to execute a command
Dialog box launcher A small arrow in the lower- right corner of the group – that you click to launch a dialogue box
Groups Collections of related Word commands
I-beam The intersection changes to a large “I”
Insertion point Where you begin creating your text. (blinking)
Menu A list of options associated with them
Mixed punctuation Requires a colon after the salutation and a comma after the closing
Nonprinting characters Which are symbols for certain formatting commands
Open punctuation Requires no punctuation after the salutation or the closing
Preview See what your printed document will look like, so you can correct errors,
Print Includes the printing options, including printer properties and setting
Quick Access Toolbar Contains commands that users access most often
Repeat Repeats your last action
Ribbon Contains multiple commands on separate tabs
Save Saves your document with the same filename and location
Save As Saving for the first time, specify filename and location
Settings Control document-specific print parameters
Tabs Enable you to create, open, save, close, share, print, and view information about you document
Template A master document with predefined page layout, fonts, margins, and styles that is used to create new documents
Undo Lets you cancel or undo your last Word command or action
White space Space between pages of the document
Word Wrap Automatically wraps text to the next line as it reaches the right margin
