Backstage view The back view when you click the file tab
Block Style A format that aligns text along the left margin
Command An instruction based on an action that you perform in word
Dialog Box A section opened by clicking a button or entering information into a command box
Dialog Box Launcher A small arrow in the lower-right corner of the group
Groups A collection of related word commands.
I-Beam When you place your cursor near it, the insertion point changes to a large “I”
Insertion Point The blinking in the upper corner of the document is where you begin creating your text
Menu A selection of options
Mixed Punctuation Requires a colon after the salutation
Non printing characters Symbols for certain formatting commands
Open Punctuation Requires no punctuation after the salutation
Preview This page gives you an opportunity to see what your printed document will look like, so you can correct errors before printing
Print To make a copy of something off the internet onto a piece of paper through a machine
Quick Access Toolbar Top bar consisting of the print button and the back and redo button
Repeat To do again
Ribbon The top bar layout with commands
Save Keeps things safe in the same location and same name
Save As Keeps things safe but changes the location and name
Settings Button that changes certain things consisting of print, default, and program settings
Tabs “Folders” that hold a group of commands
Template A layout on Word that sets up your paper
Undo To delete
White Space The space between the words that highlights when you double click with your mouse button
Word Wrap Formats a certain space of text to the left or right alignment
