Desktop Vocabulary Design 104-114

TermDefinition
Dummy A mock-up of a publication used mostly in brochures to avoid confusion about the brochure page layout and the panel reference numbers.
Filter A tool that can create effects like distortions, textures, blurs, and more.
Flatten A command that merges all layers of an image into one layer to reduce the file size and make the image more difficult to change when sent to a client.
Focal point An area to which your eye is drawn.
Gridlines The lines and borders that separate rows and columns.
Grids The framework upon which you place objects for alignment and sizing.
Group To combine separate simple objects into a single more complex image.
Mask A feature that hides areas of an image so that the data cannot be edited.
Pasteboard The area outside the edge of the page in the publication window that can be used to store text or graphics. Anything stored in the pasteboard does not appear when the publication is printed.
Registration Marks Figures placed outside the page boundaries on all color separation overlays to provide a common element for proper alignment.
Symmetrical Contains elements of equal proportion or weight on the left and right sides and top and bottom of the page.
