Limerick A funny poem with exactly 5 lines
Narrative Poem A poem that tells a story and has a plot
Free Verse A poem that does not have any rules- it has no rhythm or rhyme
Haiku A three line poem- first and last lines have 5 syllables, second and last line has 7 syllables
Concrete Poem A poem that takes the shape of its subject
Lyrical Poetry A poem that is very emotional or moody- It is usually set to music
Acrostic Poem A poem where the first letters in each line spell out the topic
Diamante Poem A poem with 7 lines that is shaped like a diamond
Couplet Two consecutive lines in a poem that rhyme
Figurative Language Expressions with meanings different from the literal- often used in poetry
