Background Information on Puritanism

As a 17th century Puritan, your life would center around what? church
What building is at the center of town and is the place where news is received? church
Puritans believed that all sins, no matter how big or small, must be punished
When your neighbor is in need of help, why do you refuse assistance? Because you believe that it is God's will and that misfortune is punishment for bad behavior.
A type of government that centers around the church is called this. theocracy
Who can vote in elections? church members
What are valued in religious worship, writing, and lifestyle? Plainnes and simplicity
Why are men considered stronger than women and children? Because Eve was the first to sin in the Garden of Eden.
Why do women obey their husbands and do not voice their opinions? Because women are not regarded as smart.
God had already chosen who would be in heaven or hell and each believer had no way of knowing which group they were in. predestination
The belief that hard work was an honor to God which would lead to a prosperous reward was known as The Protestant work ethic
Those who were wealthy were obviously blessed by God and were - in good standing with Him
