Aptitudes | Developed abilities; those things that one is good at doing; potential for learning skills. |
Attitude | A feeling or way of thinking, positive or negative, that affects a person's behavior. |
Beliefs | A strong confidence in the truth or existence of something. |
Career | An occupation or profession followed as a life's work. |
Interests | A feeling of wanting to learn more or be involved in something. |
Etiquette | Having good manners when dealing with people. |
Ethics | The principles of conduct that govern a group or society. |
Interpersonal skills | Skills that promote relationships with other people. |
Professionalism | Handling problems and criticism gracefully and maturely. |
Punctual | Being on time. |
Life Roles | The various parts of one's life, such as citizen, parent, spouse, worker, etc. |
Life Stages | Changes that occur as we move through life experiences. |
Leisure | Time free from every-day job responsibilities during which a person can pursue personal interests and hobbies. |
Marriage | The legal union of a man and woman as husband and wife. |
Hobby | A pursuit or interest engaged in for relaxation. |
Developmental changes | Changes that occur in human beings between birth and the end of adolescence. |
Developmental progression | Included in each of the three early childhood outcomes are a myriad of functional skills that can be thought of in terms of developmental progressions of abilities. |
Inter-related | Relate or connect to one another. |
Progression | The process of developing or moving gradually towards a more advanced state. |
Transitions | The process or a period of changing from one state or condition to another. |
Clear | Easy to understand |
Concise | Using as few words as possible to give the necessary information, or compressed in order to be brief. |
Convincing | Able to persuade somebody to believe that something is true or to act. |
Proofread | To read the text and mark corrections to be made. |
Extra-curricular activities | Fall outside the realm of the normal curriculum of school or university education, performed by students. |
Apprenticeship | Allows the student the opportunity to observe and participate in activities related to a career field; supervised by school personnel and related to the student's career choice. |
Bachelor's degree | Achieved after completion of a curriculum meeting the demands of a 4-year college program. |
Job shadowing | A short-term experience that allows the student to follow an experienced worker and see the day-to-day activities of a particular career |
Journey Worker | A certified, experienced, skilled crafts person that has successfully completed an apprenticeship program. |
Part-time jobs | Paid employment that is not supervised by school personnel; may or may not be related to the student's career choice. |
Lifelong Learning | The continuing development of knowledge and skills that people experience after formal education. |
Diverse economy | Economy composed of many ethnic, gender and socioeconomic groups. |
Changing economy | A transformation that occurs within an economy that either increases, sustains, or depletes its vitality. |
Independent learning | A method or learning process where learners have ownership and control of their learning. |
Motivation | A feeling of enthusiasm, interest, or commitment that makes somebody want to do something, or something that causes such a feeling. |
