charts provide a way of presenting and comparing data in a graphical format
embedded charts a chart that is placed as an object on the worksheet
chart sheet a chart that occupies its own worksheet (separate from the worksheet
data series set of related data points to be charted in its own color, bar, line or column
legend a key that identifies the series by name
horizontal axis the horizontal scale of a chart on which categories are plotted
x axis another name for the horizontal axis
vertical axis the vertical scale of a chart on which categories are plotted
y axis another name for vertical axis
plot area area that holds the data points on a chart
data points the specific values plotted on a chart
data markers the shape like the bar, column, line, or pie slice that represents each data point of a chart
infographic an information graphic that visually depicts basic or complex data
line charts good for showing changes over time
exploded slice a piece of the pie pulled out for emphasis
pie chart a chart to show the relationship of a part to a whole
bar chart a chart with horizontal bars to represent data
scatter chart a chart that represents the data series as dots on the chart
data table this can be placed below the chart
xy chart another name for scatter chart
column charts a chart with vertical bars to represent data
slice a piece of the pie chart
