| plot area | area that holds the data points on a chart |
| data points | the specific values plotted on a chart |
| data markers | the shape like the bar, column, line, or pie slice that represents each data point of a chart |
| infographic | an information graphic that visually depicts basic or complex data |
| line charts | good for showing changes over time |
| exploded slice | a piece of the pie pulled out for emphasis |
| pie chart | a chart to show the relationship of a part to a whole |
| bar chart | a chart with horizontal bars to represent data |
| scatter chart | a chart that represents the data series as dots on the chart |
| data table | this can be placed below the chart |
| xy chart | another name for scatter chart |
| column charts | a chart with vertical bars to represent data |
| slice | a piece of the pie chart |
