Color Terms

How do you see white? White light occurs when all the wavelengths are reflected back to your eye
How do you see black? Black light happens when no color is reflected back into your eyes.
What is a hue? A hue is referring to a color itself.
What are the primary colors? Red-Blue-Yellow
What are the secondary colors? Violet-Green-Orange
What are the tertiary colors? Red-violet Blue-violet Blue-greenYellow-green Yellow-orangeRed-orange
What is a saturated color? Colors on the Color Wheel that don't have any black or white in them?
What three groups make up the color wheel? PrimarySecondaryTertiary
What is a tint? A saturated color that is mixed with pure white color.
What is a shade? A saturated color that is mixed with pure black color.
What are three colors that are considered to be warm colors? Red, Orange, & Yellow
What are the three colors that are considered to be cool colors? Blue,Green, Violet
What are the five neutral colors? Black,Grey, White, Tan and Brown
What are the six types of color harmonies? MonochromaticAnalogousComplementaryTriadicSplit ComplementaryNeutral
What is a monochromatic color harmony? They are achieved by using tints and shades of only one color,
What is an analougus color harmony? Are done by using three or more colors that are next to each other on the color wheel.
What is a complementary color harmony? Two colors that are directly across from each other on the color wheel.
What is a triadic color harmony? Three colors that are located within equal distance of each other.
What is a split complementary scheme? created by using any color and the two colors located next to that colors complement.
What is a neutral color scheme? Any combination of Blacks, Greys, Whites, Browns, & Tans.
