Computer Parts

What are the parts of the Computer

TermDefinition
Desktop a computer system that is small enough to use at a desk. Consists of usually a: Monitor, Tower, Mouse, and keyboard
Laptop A portable Computer. Small enough to sit on your lap. Battery Powered
Tower Base unit or simple case. Holds the all the parts of the computer.
Monitor A display or screen used to show visual output from the computer.
Keyboard Used to type letters and numbers
Mouse Used to select, click and drag, drag and drop, double click.
Printer A machine that uses ink and paper to create a hard copy of what the computer has made.
Speak or Headphones Devices that play sounds from the computer.
Microphone A device that record sounds.
USB Thumb Drive A small stick used to save files and documents. Makes taking documents with you easy!
Motherboard The part of the computer that everything is connected to.
Hard Drive The part of the computer that stores and saves information and data.
CPU The brain of the computer
RAM Allows you to do multiple things at once on the computer.
USB Port The place you plug devices such as your iPhone or tablet into. Allows the device to communicate with the computer.
