Grade 6 Basic Story Elements

Resolution | The conclusion or ending of a story (example: the main character is cured of cancer or wins a fight) |
Character | Imaginary people (or animals) in a story |
Setting | Time and location of a story (example: a rainy night in October; 1972; Russia) |
Plot | Events in a story that lead to conflict and resolution (example: a summary of the most important events in a story) |
Point of View | The angle (view) a story is told; narrator, using "I" or "we," = first person; "he," "she," or "it," = third person; or "you," = second person (examples first person "I left the house in a cold sweat, unsure of where I was going.") |
Main Character | The most important character; the person or animal appearing most often |
