What's ISP? | An Internet Service Provider that provided internet connectivity(a business) that may provide extra storage as well! |
Are there more than one way to connect to the internet? | Yes,the types of ways are by cables and wireless Fidelity |
What are the types of Internet connections? | Dedicated and Dial-up |
What types of companies have dedicated internet connection? | T1,DSL,and Cable Modem |
What's the difference between a dial-up and a dedicated internet source? | Dedicated allows it to be connected to the internet all the time (more expensive)and Dial-up needs you to request a connection from ISP and is less expensive. |
What's bandwidth? | Bandwidth is the amount of data that can be transmitted over a network. |
What's T1? | T1 is a dedicated internet connection that is popular among bussinesses and has a data transfer rate of 1.544 Mbps. |
What is the rates of transfer units? | Mbps-megabits per second Kbps-kilobits per second Bps-bits per second |
What the rate of transfer depends on? | -ISP's equipment -The type of internet connection -The number of people using the same connection at the same time. |
What's DSL? | It's always connected to the internet and has fast transfer rates from 384 kbps to 8 Mbps |
What's cable modem? | High speed internet connection from cable TV provider and data transfer rates of 4 Mbps. |
What does wirless connection do? | It connects to a modem or T1 line that connects to an ISP and you may not get the full rate of transfer with a wireless connection.Data transfer rates of 11Mbps to 45 Mbps |
