Cell Organelle Notes

TermDefinition
Cytoplasm holds the organelle, structures is gel, like jello, mucus, hair gel, slime.
lysosomes break down food and worn out cells, structures small round.
Cell Membrane Protects the cell and allows water and food in and out of the cell, structure thin skin on the outside of the cell.
Mitochondria the cell's energy is produced here , structure rod shaped, looks like little shoes.
Nucleus Directs all of the cells activities the boss of the cell , structure round big.
Cell Wall Protects the plant and gives it strength, structure stiff outer layer of plant cells.
Golgi Body takes material from the endoplasmic reticulum , packages it and sends it out of the cell , structure weird folded structure.
Chloroplast Captures energy from the sun and makes food, structure green organelles.
Endoplasmic Reticulum Like a freeway carries materials around the cell, structure looks like folded noodles..
Ribosomes factories that produce protein, structure tiny, round dots that sometimes attach to the endoplasmic reticulum.
