| Ovary | A pair of small almond shaped organs located on the lower abdomen |
| Ovum/OVA | Female gametes, sex cells |
| Menstruation | Normal periodic discharge of a bloody fluid from non pregnant uterus. |
| Menarche: | Beginning of the menstrual function at puberty |
| Menopause | The normal stopping of the monthly menstrual periods. |
| Amenorrhea | Absence of menstrual periods |
| Dysmenorrhea: | Painful menstrual periods |
| Oligomenorrhea | Abnormally reduced menstrual flow, also infrequent menses |
| Polymenorrhea | Abnormally frequent and excessive menstrual flow |
| PMS | Premenstrual Syndrome |
| HRT | Hormone replacement therapy |
| Nulligravida | A woman who has never been pregnant |
| Nullipara | A woman who has never borne a viable child |
| Primigravida | A woman pregnant for the first time |
| Abortion | Interruption or termination of pregnancy |
| Oophoritis | Inflammation of an ovary |
| Ovariorrhexis | Rupture of an ovary |
| Salpingitis | Inflammation of a Fallopian tube |
| Endometriosis | Abnormal condition in which tissue that contains typical endometrial elements is present outside the uterus |
| Colposcopy | Visual examination of the vagina and cervix |
| Hysteroscopy | Visual examination of the interior of the uterus |
| D & C | Dilation of the cervix and curettage of the uterus |
| Testicles/Testes | Two small egg shaped glands that produce the spermatozoa |
| Spermatozoa | Male gametes |
| Phimosis | A narrowing of the opening of the foreskin so it cannot be retracted. |
| Azoospermia | Absence of sperm in the semen |
| Oligospermia | Abnormally low sperm count |
| Circumcision | Surgical removal of the foreskin of the penis |
| Anorchism | Absence of one or both testicles |
| Cryptorchidim: | Undescended testis: Developmental defect in which one or both testicles fail to descend into scrotum. |
