Excel Unit D Vocab

| X-Axis | Horizontal Axis in a chart |
| Y-Axis | Vertical Axis in a chart |
| Category Axis | Horizontal axis called this because contains the names of data groups |
| Value Axis | Vertical axis called this because it often contains numerical values that help you interpret the size of chart elements |
| Plot Area | Area inside the horizontal and vertical axes |
| Tick Marks | Notations of a scale of measure on a chart axis |
| Gridlines | Evenly spaced horizontal and/or vertical lines used in a worksheet or chart to make it easier to ressed |
| Data Point | Each value in a cell you select for your chart |
| Data Marker | Visually represents each data point, which in this case is a column |
| Data Series | Collection of related data points |
| Legend | In a chart, information the identifies how data is represented by colors or patterns |
| Sizing Handle | The small series of dots at the corners and sides of the chart's border, indicate that the chart is selected |
| Chart Sheet | A sheet in a workbook that contains only a chart that is linked to the workbook data |
| Embedded Chart | Inserted directly in the current worksheet and doesn't exist in a separate file |
| Object | An independent element on a worksheet, and is not located in a specific cell or range |
| Major Gridlines | Represent the values at the value axis tick marks |
| Minor Gridlines | Represent the values of the tick marks |
| Text Annotations | Labels that further describe your data |
| Exploding | Visually pulling a slice of a pie chart away from the whole pie chart in order to add emphasis to the pie slice. |
