X-axis | horizontal axis |
Y-axis | vertical axis |
Category axis | horizontal axis;often contains the names of the data groups,such as locations,months,or years |
Value axis | vertical axis;often contains numerical values that help you interpret the size of chart elements |
Z-axis | for comparing data across both categories and values |
Plot area | the area inside the horizontal and vertical axes |
Tick marks | marks on the vertical axis |
Grid lines | scale measure for each value |
Data point | each value in a cell you select for a chart |
Data marker | visually represents each data point |
Data series | a collection of related data points |
Legend | makes identifying the column data easier |
Sizing handles | small series of dots at the corners and sides of the charts border |
Embedded chart | chart that is inserted directly in the current worksheet and doesn't exist in a separate file |
Chart sheet | a sheet in a workbook that contains only a chart that is liked to the workbook data |
Object | an independent element on a worksheet |
Major grid lines | represent the values at the value axis tick marks |
Minor grid lines | represent the values between the tick marks |
Text annotations | are labels that further describe your data |
