Impetigo or boils are common causes of pus-producing lesions of the skin called ________? Pus-producing lesions of the skin, or pyoderma, are commonly found with impetigo or boils.
Fitz-Hugh-Curtis Syndrome is caused by what two types of sexually transmitted infections in females? What is its main symptom? Fitz-Hugh-Curtis Syndrome is caused by gonoccocal (N. gonorrhoeae) and chylamydial (Chlamydia trachomatis) infections in females. Its main symptom is inflammation of the capsule of the liver, also known as perihepatitis.
What is the difference between a pilonidal cyst and a decubitis ulcer? A pilonidal cyst is a hair-containing cyst in the skin or subcutaneous tissue, found in the sacrococcygeal area. A decubitis ulcer, or bed/pressure sore, is a crater-like defect in skin and subcutaneous tissue caused by prolonged pressure on the area.
What is epididymitis and with what infection is it found in men? Epididymitis is an inflammation of the epididymis, characterized by fever and pain on one side of the scrotum. It is found in gonococcal infections in men, as a complication of prostatitis and cystitis.
Accumulation of pus in a body cavity (particularly the thorax or chest) is called what? Empyema
