Word Processing using keyboarding skills to produce documents such as letters and reports
Desktop Publishing advanced word processing software to design and create documents such as flyers, brochures, newsletters and cards
Home Row Keys where your hands rest on a keyboard; a s d f j k l ;
Line Spacing the space between the lines of text in a document
Page Layout the margins, orientation of a document
Table columns and rows of cells that can be filled with data; used to organize information
Thesaurus a feature that suggest words that are synonyms of selected text
Spell Check a feature that scan the document for spelling and grammatical errors
Word Count a feature that counts the number of words in a document
Red Underline word is misspelled or unrecognized by dictionary
Green Underline incorrect grammar
Superscripts feature that raises characters above the line of type
Subscripts feature that places characters below the line of type
Strikethrough single line through the middle of the characters
Header and Footer areas at the top and bottom of page where page numbers, titles, and footnotes are displayed
Font The style of letters and numbers
Attributes special effects applied to letters and numbers for emphasis
Bold attribute that makes text appear darker and larger than other text
Italics attribute that makes text appear slanted
Underlined attribute that places a line beneath the text
left aligned text on the page is against the left margin
right aligned text on the page is against the right margin
center aligned text appears in the middle of a line or page
justified aligned text appears against the left and right margins, like a newspaper column
bullets and numbering dots, dashes or other special characters that bring attention to portions of t ext
copy to select an object or portion of text to be duplicated in another place
cut to select and object or portion of text to be removed completely
paste to put images or text from one place somewhere else
undo to go back to the way a document appeared before the last entry
image a graphic file
character a letter, number or symbol
label a letter
value a number
special character not a letter or number
indent use the tab key to move in five spaces from the left margin; can be defined to be any number of spaces
