Vocabulary Terms and Definitions for Intro to BCT Software and File Management

TermDefinition
Delete To erase a file from a computer.
Desktop Publishing The use of a software application to combine page layout and design features (text and artwork) to produce documents. (Examples: newsletters, posters, brochures, business cards, web pages, greeting cards, etc.)
File Management The process of maintaining files and folders through storing, naming, and sorting items into categories and subcategories.
Folder A container used to store, manage, and organize files.
Presentation An application that allows the user to create and save slides to use as a slide show.
Rename To change the title of a file or folder.
Save As A feature that allows you to change the attributes of a file (such as location, file name, or file type) before saving it.
Save To store data to access at a later time.
Spreadsheet An application that consists of a grid of rows and columns, which can contain numbers, text, and formulas; often used to perform calculations and display numerical data.
Word Processing The use of software application to create, edit, format, print and save text
