Eighth Grade Language Arts

TermDefinition
Scene A smaller division of an act, usually showing what happens between actors in one place
Monologue A part of a drama in which a single actor speaks alone; soliloquy
Flashback A portion of the past that is inserted into the present chronological structure of a narrative
Dramatic Irony Irony (when the expected outcome is different from the actual) that is part of a situation that is understood by the audience, but not grasped by the characters of a play
Act One of the main divisions of a play
