| cell pointer | a dark rectangle that outlines the cell you are working in. |
| active cell | a cell that is active. |
| sheet tabs | a worksheet grid that let you switch sheet to sheet in a workbook. |
| status bar | a bar located at the bottom of Excel window, it provides a brief description of the active command or task in progress. |
| mode indicator | a bar in the lower left corner that provides additional information about certain tasks. |
| range | A selection of two or more cells. |
| formula | an equation in a worksheet. |
| labels | entries that contain text and numerical information not used in calculations. |
| values | numbers, formulas, and functions that can be used in calculations. |
| function | a built-in formula. |
| arguments | the information require to calculate an answer. |
| formula prefixes | a formula in Excel worksheet that starts with a equal sign. |
| calculation operators | an operator that indicates what type of calculation you want of perform. |
| comparison operators | an operator that compare values for purpose of true or false results. |
| reference operators | an operator which enables you to use ranges in calculations. |
| enter button | the check mark on the formula bar. |
