Formatting Text & Paragraphs
| Term | Definition |

| Font | A complete set of characters with the same typeface or design. |
| Font Size | Measured in points. |
| Point | 1/72 of an inch. |
| Theme | A related set of fonts, colors styles, and effects that is applied to an entire document to give it a cohesive appearance. |
| Drop Cap | A large dropped initial capital letter that is often used to set off the first paragraph of an article. |
| Bold | Formatting applied to text to make it thicker and darker. |
| Italic | Formatting applied to text to make the character slant to the right. |
| Format Painter | A feature used to copy the format settings to the selected text to another text you want to format the same way. |
| Quick Styles | A set of styles that are designed to be used together in a document. |
| Style | A named collection of character and paragraph formats that are stored together and can be applied to text to format if quickly. |
| Left Aligned | Alignment in which the item is flush with the left margin. |
| Right Aligned | Alignment in which the item is flush with the right margin. |
| Justify | Alignment in which an item is flush with both the left and right margins. |
| Center | Alignment in which an item is centered between the margins. |
| Tab Stop | A location on the horizontal ruler that indicates where to align text. |
| Indent | The space between the edge of a line of text or a paragraph. |
| Indent Markers | A marker on the horizontal ruler that shows the indent settings for the active paragraph. |
| Bullet | A small graphic symbol used to identify an item in a list. |
| Borders | A line that can be added above, below or to the sides of a paragraph, text, or table cell. |
| Shading | a color or pattern you apply behind words or paragraphs to make them stand out on a page. |
| Clip Art | A collection of graphic images that you can insert into a document. |
| Clip Organizer | A library of the clips. |
| Clips | Media files suck as graphics, photographs, sounds, movies, and animations. |
| Sizing Handles | The white circles that appear on the square edges of the graphic |
| Inline Graphic | A graphic that is part of a line of text. |
| Floating Graphic | A graphic to which text wrapping has been applied, making the graphic independent of text and able to be moved anywhere on a page. |
