| Central Idea | What the story is mainly about. |
| Theme | The message or lesson that is communicated in a literary work. |
| Setting | When or where the story takes place. |
| Plot | Shows how the story develops from beginning, middle, to end. |
| Internal Conflict | A problem the character is having with self. |
| External Conflict | A problem the character is having with an outside force such as another character or nature. |
| Conflict | The problem. |
| Protagonist | The main character is the story. |
| Antagonist | The character who goes against the main character and creates conflict. |
| Characters | The people in the story that carry out the action and help develop the plot. |
| Main Idea | What the text is mainly about. |
| Tone | The author's attitude or feelings about the subject in his/her writing. |
| Details | Facts or examples that help explain the central or main idea in a text. |
| Narrator | The character that tells the story to the audience. |
| Text Evidence | Information that is found in the text that helps the reader understand the text more. |
| Solution | How the problem is solved. |
| Point of View | The perspective from which the reader will view the events in a story. |
