Geometry Basics
| Term | Definition |

| Naming a line | You can name a line with any two points on it. This can be read in either order. The symbol over the letters is a two- sided arrow. |
| line Segment | The area on a line between any two of its points. |
| Point | Has no size. Represented by a small dot. Named by a capital letter. |
| Line | A series of points that extend in two opposite directions without end. |
| Naming a line segment | The letter s of the two points that that make up the endpoints of the segment. The symbol over the letters in the line without any |
| Ray | A line that has a endpoint and extends without end in the other direction. |
| Plane | A flat surface that has no thickness. Contains many lines and extends without end in the direction of those lines. |
| Coplanar | Points or lines that exist in the same plane. |
| Naming a plane | Either with one capital letter not representing a point or with 3 or 4 points residing on the corners of the plane. |
| Naming a Ray | Two letters on the ray, starting with the endpoint and including any other point on the line. A one sided arrow over the two letters with the non arrow on the same as the endpoint. |
| Opposite Rays | Two rays extending in opposite directions that share a common end point |
| Naming a point | A capitol letter, typically above the dot representing the point. |
| Mid point | A point that divides the segment into two congruent segments. A midponit, or any line, ray, or other segment, is said to bisect the segment. |
