TermDefinition
hard reset A reset that wipes out everything in your computer, returning the system to the exact state it was in when you first got the device.
soft reset A reset that corrects some types of errors in your computer but leaves your data and settings intact.
Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) A Windows error message on a bright blue screen, indicating that the system must restart.
Task Manager The Windows utility you can use to shut down a malfunctioning application if it will not shut normally.
Disk Check The Windows utility you can run to find and fix storage-related problems on a hard drive.
Disk Utility The Mac OS X utility you can run to find and fix storage-related problems on a hard drive.
