| Term | Definition |

| Salutation | a standard formula of words used in a letter to address the person being written to. |
| Recipient | A person or thing that receives or is awarded something. |
| Template | Refers to a sample document that already has some details in place. |
| Data source | is simply the source of the data. It can be a file, a particular database on a DBMS, or even a live data feed. The data might be located on the same computer as the program, or on another computer somewhere on a network. |
| Address | write the name and address of the intended recipient on (an envelope, letter, or package). |
| Modified Business Letter | Design format commonly used in Business correspondence |
| Date | The day of the month or year as specified by a number. |
| Colon | Punctuation mark indication the writer is introducing a quotation or list of items. (:) |
| Macros | single instruction that expands automatically into a set of instructions to perform a particular task. |
| Record | a thing constituting a piece of evidence about the past, especially an account of an act or occurrence kept in writing or some other permanent form. |
| Mail Merge | the automatic addition of names and addresses from a database to letters and envelopes in order to facilitate sending mail, especially advertising, to many addresses. |
