Atmosphere

1.Atmosphere Mixture of gases that cover the Earth.
2.Ozone A form of oxygen that has 3 oxegen particles in each molecule,it is a toxic form of Oxegen.
3.Air pollution Change of the atmosphere that has harmful effects.
4.Emissions Firm particles and gases released onto the air from a smokestack or motor vehicle.
5.Photochemical smog A brownish haze,mix of ozone and other chemicals.Formed when nitrogen oxide,hydrocarbons and other pollutants,react with one another in presence of sunlight.
6.Temperature inversion Which a layer of warm air traps polluted air close to surface.
7.Acid rain Rain that is more acidic than normal,caused by pollutants which condensate with water.
8.Chlorofluorocarbons Chlorine compounds used in air conditioners,and spray cans;also called CFC's.
9.Greenhouse effect Heat is trapped in the atmoshere by water vapor,carbon dioxide,methane,and other gases that form a blanket.
10.Green house gases Gases in the atmosphere that trap heat.
11.Global warming A gradual increase in the temperature of Earth's atmosphere.
12.Altitude Elavation above sea level
13.Troposphere The lowest layer of the Earth's atmoshpere,where weather occurs.
14.Stratosphere The second lowest layer of Earth's atmoshpere'the ozone layer is locate in the upper stratosphere
15.Mesoshpere The middle layer of Earth's atmosphere;the layer which most meteoroids burn up.
16.Thermoshpere The outer most layer of Earth's atmosphere.
17.Ionsphere The lower part of the thermosphere,where electrically charged particles called ions are found.
18.Aurora Borealis A colorful,glowing display in the sky caused when particles from the sun strike oxegen and nitrogen,atoms in the ionsphere;also called The Northern Lights.
19.Exosphere The outer layer in the thermosphere,extending outward into space.
