Tech Apps Vocab

Computer Electronic device that is used to store, retrieve, and manipulate information (data) electronically.
CPU (central processing unit) Silicon chip that processes data and carries out instructions given to the computer.
Hard Drive A non-removable drive, which is fast and holds a great deal of information.
Hardware Parts of the computer you can see and touch.
Icons small pictures to remind you of each button’s function.
Input Devices Used to enter data into a computer (keyboard, mouse, etc.).
Monitor Output device that provides a visual representation of the information stored into the computer.
Mouse Hand-held device you use to move a pointer on the screen.
Output Device Ant device which allows information to flow out of the computer (monitor, printer).
RAM (Random Access Memory) Number of silicon chips inside a computer that holds information as long as the computer is turned on.
ROM (Read-only Memory) Small bit of memory that stays up in the computer when it is turned off. This allows it to turn off.
