QuestionAnswer
Element Matter that cannot be broken down into anything simpler. Consists of 1 kind of atom.
Solution When a solid completely dissolves in a liquid it produces this kind of mixture
Suspension Insoluble solid particles scattered throughout the liquid, after shaken, and settled out.
Atom Smallest part of an element with the properties of that element
Compound A pure substance consisting of 2 or more different kinds of atoms bonded together
Pure Substance matter that has properties that are always the same.(1 set of properties)
Matter Anything with mass and volume
Mixture Matter with properties that vary in different samples.(2 or more sets of properties)
Molecule When atoms join together they form a larger particle
Mechanical Mixture Matter in which you easily see 2 or more parts.
Homogeneous Same properties throughout a sample
hetergeneous different properties throughout a sample
Types of Mixtures Colloid, suspension, mechanical mixtures, solutions
