Color Terms

What is a monochromatic color scheme? Tints and shades of one color
What is an analogous color scheme? Three or more colors that are next to each other on the color wheel
What is an accented neutral color scheme? A neutral harmony with a small amount of one color
What color scheme is 2 colors opposite on the color wheel? Complementary color scheme
How many colors in a split complementary color scheme? Two colors located next to that colors complement
Name the Primary colors. Red, yellow, blue
Name the secondary colors. Orange, green, violet
What is the value of a color? The tints and shades of one color
What is the intensity of a color mean? The strength or concentration of a color
What is the hue? Each different hue is a different reflected wavelength of light: creates the color wheel
How do you make a tint? Add the color white
How do you make a shade? Add the color black
What are the warm colors? Red, orange, yellow
What are the cool colors.? Blue, green, violet
What are the neutral colors? Black, grey, white, brown, tan
What is unique about the primary colors? They create the secondary colors
Name 3 tertiary colors. Red-violet, blue-violet, blue-green
What is the proper way to name a tertiary color? Primary colors are listed first: primary-secondary
What is another name for a tertiary color? RYB
What is a triadic color scheme? Three colors that are located within equal distance of each other
