Color Terms

1. What is a monochromatic color scheme? Tints and shades of one color
2. What is an analogous color scheme? Two or more colors that are next to each other on the color wheel
3. What is an accented neutral color scheme? Neutral harmony with a small amount of one color
4.What color scheme is 2 colors opposite on the color wheel. Complementary Color Harmony
5. How many colors in a split complementary color scheme? 3
6. Name the Primary colors. Red, Blue, and Yellow
7. Name the secondary colors. Violet, Green, and Orange
8. What is the value of a color? Light or Dark
9. What is the intensity of a color mean? Brightest or Dullest
10. What is the hue? Refers to the color itself
11. How do you make a tint? A saturated color that is mixed with pure white color. The more white that you add to a saturated color, the lighter the color will become.
12. How do you make a shade? A saturated color that is mixed with pure black color. The more black that you add to a saturated color the darker the color will become.
13. What are the warm colors? Red, Orange, and Yellow
14. What are the cool colors.? Blue, Green, and Violet
15. What are the neutral colors? Black, Grey, White, Brown, and Tan
16. What is unique about the primary colors? You cannot achieve these colors by mixing any other colors together.
17. Name 3 tertiary colors. Red-Violet, Blue-Violet, Blue-Green, Yellow-Green, Yellow-Orange, Red-Orange
18. What is the proper way to name a tertiary color? Primary color first, then Secondary
19. What is another name for a tertiary color? A middle color
20. What is a triadic color scheme? 3 colors that are located within equal distance of each other
