Color terms

What is a monochromatic color scheme? using tints and shades of one color (ex. navy blue, bright blue and baby blue
What is an analogous color scheme? three or more colors that are next to each other on the color wheel (red, red-violet and violet)
What is an accented neutral color scheme? a neutral harmony with a small amount of one color
What color scheme is 2 colors opposite on the color wheel. complementary color harmony
How many colors in a split complemetary color scheme? any color and the two colors located next to the colors complement
Name the Primary colors. red blue and yellow
Name the secondary colors. violet green and orange
What is the value of a color? lightness or darkness
What is the intensity of a color mean? saturation
What is the hue? color
How do you make a tint? add white
How do you make a shade? add black
What are the warm colors? red orange and yellow
What are the cool colors? blue, green and violet
What are the neutral colors? combination of blacks, greys, whites, browns and tans
What is unique about the primary colors? you cannot achieve these colors by mixing any other colors together
Name 3 tertiary colors. red-violet, blue-violet and blue-green
What is the proper way to name a tertiary color? mixing equal parts of 1 primary and one secondary
What is another name for a tertiary color? inbetween
What is a triadic color scheme? 3 colors within equal distance of each other
